É prá ler ou é prá quê?

Vou falar pela última vez de uma coisa da qual não entendo nada. Só me dou essa licença porque adoro ler e adoro livros, desde a mais tenra infância, há séculos atrás. Primeiro, acho que é uma espécie de arrogância. Fico muito intrigada porque os livros de cozinha precisam ser de formatos diferentes dos normais, precisam chamar a atenção, precisam ser engraçadinhos. É para criança? Sinto que em vez de engraçadinhos ficam ordinários. Tudo bem, ótimas ilustrações de ótimos ilustradores, mas na verdade não é assim, são livros para serem jogados fora depois de um tempo. Ou esquecidos, ou fora de moda…. Livro de Proust fica fora de moda? Não fica. Fica mais chic com o tempo.

Ah, é que tem uma pequena diferença entre Proust e os autores de livros de comida? Ora, nem tanto, ele falou de comida muito bem e muito. É um dos meus autores prediletos quando fala sobre comida. Nem por isso encheram o livro dele de colherinhas de pau.

Não sei nem como criticar por me faltarem os termos técnicos. Tem um livro do restaurante Mugaritz sobre bacalhau, mas é tão moderno que nunca consegui ler as receitas. Cada folha é um pedaço do mar bravio e os bacalhaus nadam no meio das letras, horrível, é uma obra de arte moderna ou um livro de ler?

Por que mudar a fonte para letra da vovozinha, dificílimo ler letra de avó em receita, ou as letras S dependuradas como ganchos quase caindo das palavras, e o fundo das páginas em branco e as letras brancas ou em preto com as letras pretas. Ou as letras bem pequeninas, se esquecendo dos ceguetas, dos velhos, e dos computadores que aumentam as letras num piscar de olhos….Depois ficam aí chorando por causa da concorrência.

Nunca conversei sobre isso com editores, só com meus botões, mas devo ter alguma razão. Vejam os melhores livros de cozinha no mundo. Na Inglaterra, Elizabeth David. Cada página é um álbum de fotos, mas ela consegue isso com palavras. E M.K.Fisher, também com palavras, você se lembra de cada receita em três dimensões, mas não tem nem um desenho.

A Marcella Hazan não tem fotos, uns desenhos a lápis para esclarecer alguma técnica. Quando tem alguma foto de Veneza já estraga tudo, Veneza é muito mais bonita que aquilo, e a conversa da Hazan, e a precisão e objetividade são suficientes.

Implicância de velha, pois não? Acabei de pegar um, quase morri, tem todos os defeitos que você pode imaginar, e é de uma designer americana, logo a errada devo ser eu, e nunca mais toco nesse assunto, prometo, mas livro assim não leio mais, não sou criança de colo que precise ser embalada por camarões falantes com boquinha de Mickey.

É prá ler ou é pra quê? Ponto final, nunca mais falo nesse assunto que não me compete,vamos adiante.

    Have you ever thought about including a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. Nevertheless just imagine if you added some great graphics or videos to give your posts more, “pop”!     Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.     Olá querida Nina, como assim esse assunto não compete a você, sendo você da tchurma? E ainda por cima, bastante crítica e sábia? Tem que falar, precisamos saber, isto afina nossa sensibilidade, há trocas, eu fico sabendo o que alguém da área pensa e afino o meu gosto, assim como gosto quando lêem o que escrevo, quando faço ficção, vejo filmes, vou a exposições, faço resenhas.
